Molecular and Cell Biologist

My Experience
I am a molecular and cell biologist by training, with a life-long passion for computers and data analyses. I got my Ph.D. degree at the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. In 2009-2011, I worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the field of genomics at the prestigious University College London, UK, and I also served as an instructor at the highly selective Wellcome Trust Advanced Courses. After returning to Czechia, I started my own research group, the Laboratory of Microbial Genomics, at the Charles University. My team specialized in next-generation sequencing and data analyses from bacteria to humans. We also helped other researchers, both local and from abroad, to design sequencing experiments and get the most from their data. On top of that, I also taught genomics-related university courses and supervised students and postdocs. In 2024, I left academia and became part of Sophgena to fully focus on bioinformatics. My aim is to help turn raw sequencing data into meaningful, useful and actionable information for our clients.
