My Experience 
I graduated from the Faculty of Pediatrics in Riga, Latvia, which is also where I come from. I devoted nearly 20 years to this field, which I consider both highly demanding and fascinating. However, workplace circumstances eventually led me to the field of medical genetics, which I have loved and pursued for 19 years. Although working as a clinical geneticist is often mentally challenging, I find the complexity of this discipline and the need to address new and unique situations to be a significant and motivating challenge. In my role as a clinical geneticist, I encounter a wide range of stories, situations, and emotions—fear, sadness, joy, enthusiasm, despair. In every circumstance, I strive to maintain professionalism, a positive mindset, and a good sense of humor, qualities that my colleagues and patients appreciate in me.
